Everything had started normally. We were supposed to meet with Niall this morning so I naturally slept at his place the night before, on the couch. Around ten o’clock, lightly hungover, we wake up. The three flatmates, a friend (a bit more hungover than us) and me lazily laid on the couches. Then Dan, the slightly more hungover friend, took a guitar. There is a lot of instruments hanging on the walls so this kind of behaviour is quite frequent, and very welcome. He started picking, strumming, humming, then Niall grabbed a bass that was also hanging on the wall and started jamming with his old friend. Still tired from the previous night as it often happens when you are a musician in Dublin, I let them play for a while, until my hands reach my violin, on their own will. Then, attracted by the music like a moth by a 1000 Watt flashlight, Luke popped in with his banjo, and we were all jamming.
Dan found a riff, Luke a five notes melody, Niall a nice lick, I found another few notes, while Lily ate spicy bean burgers, and here was this tune and its name.
We composed, arranged, rehearsed, recorded and filmed this tune in one very happy day.

Tout avait commencé normalement. On avait rendez-vous avec Niall ce matin là, donc j’avais naturellement dormi chez lui la nuit d’avant, sur le canapé. Vers dix heures, l’esprit embrumé par les vapeurs de Guinness de la veille, nous nous levons. Les trois colocataires, un ami (un peu plus geule de boisé que les autres) et moi, étions paresseusement affalés sur les canapés. Dan a attrappé une guitare. Il y a plein d’instruments accrochés aux murs de l’appartement donc ce genre de comportement est assez fréquent, et même encouragé. Il a commencé à jouer, un petit peu, puis un peu plus, puis Niall a attrappé une basse qui était elle aussi accrochée au mur, et boeuffe avec son vieil ami. Encore fatigué de la veille, comme ça arrive souvent quand on est à Dublin et qu’on est musicien, je les laisse jouer un peu, jusqu’à ce que mes mains se mettent à bouger toutes seules et attrappent mon violon. Puis, attiré par la musique comme un papillon de nuit est attiré par une lampe torche de 10000 Watt, Luke est apparu avec son banjo et nous avons tous jammé ensemble.
Dan a trouvé un riff, Luke cinq notes de mélodies, Niall un beau petit motif, j’ai trouvé cinq autres notes, pendant que Lily mangeait des Burgers aux haricots épicés (Spicy bean burgers), et nous avions un morceau et son nom.
Nous avons composé, arrangé, répété, enregistré et filmé ce morceau en une seule journée très joyeuse.
